Render Slaves
Render Slaves Roles
Render slaves are individual computers designed to calculate and complete a job it is given by a main computer. The main computer is usually called a queue manager, and uses software called Render Management Software, which provides it with the capabilities to distribute ‘assignments’ to each of the individual render slaves that make up the render farm. As soon as one of the render slaves completes its task, it is immediately given another by the queue manager main computer.
The queue manager has to be able to give each of the render slaves a job individually, based on the speed and efficiency of the render salve - some may process things faster than others. The queue manager must be able to do this independently without human interaction or assistance.
Render Slaves working together
Multiple render slaves clustered together and connected to each other make up what is called a render farm. Each of the render slaves perform a type of parallel computing; it is called this because each of the render slaves is capable of receiving a unique task that it can perform individually without the assistance of another one of the render salves. This means that each render slave can perform a different task, all at the same time (in parallel).
