Distributed Rendering
Distributed Rendering - Queue Manager
The queue manager in a render farm performs distributed rendering by sharing the different jobs that make up one rendering project between each of the individual render nodes that make up the overall render farm. It is the process of taking the original rendering job, and breaking it down into individual render assignments, which can then be sent to each individual render node in the render farm. Distributed rendering is therefore useful for decreasing the time it takes to completely render a whole image, as the rendering is distributed between multiple computers rather than just one.
Distributed Rendering - Render Nodes
Rendering an image can take a long time if only one computer (known in this case as a render node) is performing the rendering. This is why multiple render nodes are used to create a render farm, which can then perform the rendering task faster, with the assistance of distributed rendering performed by the queue manager.
Distributed rendering is also known as parallel rendering, as each individual render node is performing a different task, but all are working at the same time. The queue manager performs distributed rendering using a software called Render Management software.
